grooves...

It's often difficult to determine when a groove becomes a rut. Unfortunately, the difference is usually apparent only when you are no longer in one of them.

For a very long time, I've been in a rut. Tonight I realised this. After a mildly productive day (my office isn't as messy any more, but there wasn't a whole lot of billing going on), I'm in the office late, had Subway for dinner, and have been hammering out work. The feeling was familiar all over again. I think that I'm out of the rut and into the groove.

Having said all of this, there isn't a whole lot of interest in the above exposition if you aren't me. So here's your tidbit for the day (damnit I said TIDBIT, not timbit (TM)). Rut doesn't just mean a settled and monotonous routine, it also refers to a breeding period for certain mammals, such as male deer or elk. Don't believe me?

BTW... lots of online dictionaries don't like timbit.
